Our approach is strengths-based and solution-focused. We want to acknowledge the challenges you are experiencing while identifying a path forward to where you would like to see yourself in the future.

We're here to help with:

  • Gaining insight into your experience
  • Improving decision-making
  • Developing positive coping strategies
  • Becoming educated on your diagnosis and the ways it impacts you
  • Feeling empowered to advocate for yourself and your needs

When appropriate, we will encourage you to include your partner, parents (for children and adolescents), or other key members in the treatment process. We often see this participation lead to improved rates of success.

As part of a comprehensive treatment approach, we support your improvement in healthy lifestyle habits, stress management, and developing a strong sense of self. Therapy is the cornerstone of your treatment plan, but addressing these additional components promotes a comprehensive improvement in overall well-being and contentment.

For couples who are in crisis or who have experienced increased stress, we work to restore the balance in the relationship. In couples therapy we focus on:

  • Healthy communication patterns
  • The ability to compromise and solve problems together
  • Empathy and acceptance

Relationships require ongoing maintenance and a daily commitment to preventing unhealthy patterns from emerging. For couples who are not in crisis, we work to support and strengthen relationship health. In this therapeutic process, the relationship is our client. However, at times we may meet with each party individually if we feel it will support the collective goals.

In family therapy, our clinicians help families to communicate effectively and participate in constructive problem-solving. Our work begins by establishing ground rules for the session so that participants feel heard.

We teach and encourage active listening and validation of others, even in moments when you’re not in direct agreement on an issue. Strong communication between parents is an important part of the work in family therapy. Supporting parents in strengthening their communication helps to build and maintain a healthy and effective parental hierarchy.

Integrative Writing and Creativity Coaching

Creativity coaching

This is a specific type of life coaching that helps creatives deal with issues such as motivation, anxiety, creativity blockage, procrastination, and lack of confidence. Guided visualization, breathing exercises, practice or process coaching, vision boards, and more can be used to help you become “unstuck” and realize your full creative potential. The goal of this type of coaching is to help you develop strategies to harness your joy and nourish your innate creative energy.

Therapeutic writing

This can be impactful for those dealing with specific anxieties surrounding loss, trauma, illness, and grief. This type of intensive writing leans into the premise that exposing yourself gradually to a negative experience within the controlled space of a story will help you recognize, explore, and diminish your negative response. Storytelling is an empowering act that can encourage you to better understand and process your own experience by sitting within the experience as an active observer.

We work with a variety of mental health and relationship challenges. In individual therapy, the predominant concerns our clients seek help with are anxiety and depression or both.

Our Specialties

Anxiety

Even unexplained physical symptoms can manifest as a result of anxiety, such as headaches, muscle aches, and joint pain, to name a few.

When you first meet with one of our therapists, we do an assessment to determine if anxiety is the primary cause of your symptoms. Our team prioritizes educating you on the underlying mechanisms that drive anxiety. Which helps you understand the dynamics of the resulting symptoms.

We take a holistic approach to treating anxiety. We pull from cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness exercises, and behavioral techniques, helping you build a tolerance to the physical sensations that anxiety causes.

Your therapist will explore the root causes of your anxiety with you, particularly in cases of unresolved trauma. When appropriate, we may refer you for medication management. We will work closely with the prescriber to ensure your treatment is consistent.

The hallmark characteristic of anxiety is excessive worry. Left unaddressed, this can show up in your life as panic, overwhelm, difficulty sleeping, and perfectionism.

Depression

Depression is more than fleeting feelings of sadness or disconnection. It is characterized by persistent symptoms including loss of interest in things you used to enjoy, chronic fatigue, interrupted sleep patterns or appetite, isolation, irritability and hopelessness.

In your first session, your therapist will conduct an assessment and refer you to a prescriber for medication management when appropriate. We collaborate closely with prescribers to provide the best continuity of care.

We believe fostering a strong support system is an important part of treating depression. Significant others may be included in the treatment process to best provide support.

As we begin our work together, we will set realistic goals for the future and take manageable steps toward them. When you start to find relief from symptoms that are holding you back, a feeling of excitement and vitality will have room to emerge, bringing your goals within reach.

Working to relieve symptoms of depression begins with identifying negative thinking and behaviors and working to create positive alternatives.

relationships

Couples typically come to us with a variety of challenges including infidelity, recurring conflict, sex and intimacy issues, financial strain, or loss of trust.

So many couples experience these challenges and feel uncomfortable sharing them with another person. Our therapists have worked through all of these issues with our clients, so know that you are not alone and there is nothing to be ashamed of.

Couples therapy provides a safe and supportive space to express feelings while improving communication. We will help you identify and work through defense mechanisms and resentment while increasing emotional availability and relationship satisfaction.

If appropriate, your therapist may recommend meeting with one partner individually for a few sessions to best support the health of the relationship. Each partner will be supported individually in service of strengthening the partnership.

Whether you are a healthy couple seeking greater intimacy and connection or a couple in distress, we are here to support you.

Take your next right step.
